I wanted to share Fishbone's hopped up version of Curtis Mayfield's classic from the "Superfly" soundtrack for two reasons.

    1. It's a brilliant funk-rock interpretation musically that also visually hammered home Curtis's concept in the importance of a community to love ALL of its folks, even everyday people like "Fat Freddie" on the corner.

Second, the Los Angeles Times Magazine in its June 5 issue picked 40 of the best bands across stylistic lines that originated from Los Angeles since the 60s - from The Eagles and Los Lobos to WAR and The Mothers of Invention - but Fishbone was not among them. I wanted to say "in your face" with one electrifying reason why that was a grave mistake.

Rock on..."Party at Ground Zero," people!!
