Patti Austin | Every Home Should Have One

Every Home Should Have One

You get Quincy Jones, Rod Temperton, James Ingram, Louis Johnson, Thom Bell and Linda Creed on this Patti Austin treasure. The album is titled correctly: “Every Home Should Have One”, loaded with fire, energy and passion. It’s one of those albums that you play all week without storing it back into the collection. To your delight there are many different music styles of music that make this album a keeper.

The journey begins with "Do You Love Me" and "Love Me to Death" two energetic tunes with a jazzy disco groove. You feel the trademark vibe of Quincy Jones in both selections. Patti serenades us with three seductive songs, “The Way I Feel”, “Stop, Look, Listen” and “Baby, Come to Me” w/James Ingram. These love songs warms your soul with Patti’s graceful style, not to mention James Ingram accompanying her on one.

There is an Island flavor in the final three selections: The track “Symphony of Love” - a sweet reggae ballad that grooves and “Oh No, Margarita” - you are going to want to crank up the blender, slice some limes and crush the salt (bottoms up). And finally the awesome track written by Ivan Lins “The Island”, a fitting way to close the album. This CD has a special place in my collection.
