Earth, Wind & Fire | Electric Universe
This 1983 Columbia Records release saw the last of what was left of the "core" group. Panned by die hard EWF's fans .... well, some, not all! ... But the feeling I got from people during that time was one of disbelief.
Yes! It was a drastic change! Yes! It took you off guard! But you have to remember, during those times in the Reagan era, and particularly technology, was well advancing to what it is now! .... Yes! I love the "Raise" album! Yes! I enjoy listening to "Powerlight"!
To stay current during that time, one had to conform to what was being played on the radio ! That was just the reality back then !! The message throughout this album is very prophectic! .... Just look at your Blackberry's, your MAC Notebooks, Facebook, etc.

I'll tell you what! ....Just listen to the entire album yourselves, if you own a copy .......and take a look at our society now ...... Whether you dug the music or not! ..... Just listen to it. .... and you tell me what you think.
Happy Listening!

The electric universe was the last album as a group, but whatever was going within the group showed on record, yes the album was ahead of it's time, just like Princes 1999, and there are other groups that out put albums ahead of it's time. It's a good album if you really listen to it, and not to mention this cd is very hard to find, it was discontinued at one time. but i do have the actual cd. but it is good to see the Earth Wind & fire is still keeping the funk alive, catch them in concert if you can.

Hey Concept !
Thanks for your comment.
This album was so misunderstood during the time of it's release. Like I said, it was a record that threw the die hard EWF fans off guard.
Hopefully those that own the vinyl or reissued CD would give it another chance. This time with an open mind.
I'm happy to hear I'm not the only that appreciate this record. I haven't seen this incarnation of EWF since the late '90's.
Unfortunately, my ass was NOT kicked. Prior to that, the last time I saw them live was in 1979 Madison Square Garden, with the original lineup .... I'll put it to you this way, ... they had to carry me out in a stretcher ! LOL ! That's the degree they kicked my ass then
Keep it Funky Concept !
Peace !

I think Steve outdone himself on this one. The response all over the world has been nothing but positive ! ... Just like his "Positive Power" album. I wish those guys at Rhino would re release that album. There is a demand for it.
