The Main Ingredient - Afrodisiac

The Main Ingredient - Afrodisiac
In
my opinion no one can cover Stevie Wonder like The Main Ingredient. I
had the luxury to purchase Afrodisiac lp in 1973 at the Base Exchange
at RAF Bentwaters, England during my time serving in the USAF. I must
admit this is one of the most romantic cd's in my collection. Cuba
Gooding vocals are remarkable with the melodic backing of Tony
Silvester and Luther Simmons Jr. Six of the ten selections on the lp
written by Stevie Wonder are masterfully arranged. Superwoman is the first selection that just takes your breath away, very smooth with a bosa nova feel. Where Were You When I Needed You
fits very well in my Love Stimulus set on my weekly radio show Mellow
Madness 88.1FM WFSK Fisk University Radio Nashville, TN (mood setting
and very romantic).
Other Stevie songs on the lp co-written by Syretta Wright are Girl Blue, I Am Yours and Something Lovely all are fabulous keepsakes. Selections that complete this mellow classic are Love Of My Life, Goodbye My Love, Work To Do and You Can Call Me Rover. This lp has a warm place in my heart, I have many fond memories every time I listen to these great songs.
This
lp never ranked with the Marvin Gaye, Blue Magic, Delfonics or
Stylistics classics of the 70's. I guess it got lost in the countless
classics of that era. The next time you run across a copy of the cd or
lp, check it out and maybe you will feel as I do about this gem.
