Five Star - Luxury Of Life

One of the finest R&B groups from England came out with a project that should be remembered for a good long time! I'm talking about the Pearson Family! Deniece, Delroy, Doris, Stedman & Lorraine. The family known all over the world as Five Star!
And when they released "Luxury Of Life", IT WAS ON!!

The party got started! Nah, Seriously! Because the 1st 3 tracks on Side A grooves in sync & continuously. Well composed R&B music was easily displayed, especially when Paul Hardcastle mixed "Love Take Over". Please replay this track & listent to an exeptional sax solo from C.J. Ten Dam; "All Fall Down" & "Let Me Be The One" was produced by another great producer of his time, Nick Martinelli & arranged by another strong, memorable R&B group from the U.K. - Loose Ends! (Steve Nichol, Carl "Macca" McIntosh & Jane Eugene). In fact, they participated on numerous tracks throughout the record, creating a distingishable sound in R&B that you could only pay respect to the U.K. for! It's different & very catchy. All you have to do is grab the 1st 3-4 albums from "Loose Ends" & the rest is history. The same for "52nd Street" (How many of ya'll know anything about them?), another group from the U.K.
Ok, back to the review.....
"Hide & Seek" was another track that crept up from under the shadows & production efforts of Steve Harvey. Steve also contributed on various tracks on the project & is not to be forgotten.
Five Star (at the time - album released in 1985) also mirrored much of the same dance moves that was explored on stage from R&B groups New Edition, Force MD's & The Jackson's. MTV played out the music videos that came with those singles & before you knew it, Five Star was HOT! Especially after seeing their performance on Soul Train in the mid-80's!!
Snatch up the "Luxury Of Life" album!

PS: Have any of you listened to the 12" remix "Let Me Be The One"? If you can find it online or at a record store still open in your area, I would encourage you to find it & playback the "Long Hot Soulful Mix", produced by Mr. Martinelli & arranged by Steve, Carl & Jane of Loose Ends! The remix allowed the late-great, Contemporary Jazz Saxman Grover Washington, Jr. play his sax throughout the entire track! Only background vocals! I mean, that remix was TIGHT!
