Cherrelle - High Priority

Back in 1985, Flyte Time Productions created an album for a young lady who would simply showcase the given talents behind every track that project followed. That album was called "High Priority". That lady's name is Cherrelle. That project was produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis. That was it!

Track Listing:
~ The Opening
~ You Look Good To Me
~ Artificial Heart
~ New Love
~ Oh No It's U Again
~ Saturday Love
~ Will You Satisfy
~ Where Do I Run To
~ High Priority
~ New Love Reprise

Taking my time to reflect on the Back In The Day page, The Urban Music Scene's payback to the finest in music from yesterday, I needed to contribute my memory to someone I used to jam at all of my houseparties. Since Jimmy & Terry's name is somewhat printed on a lot of albums in the 80's, I couldn't help myself but to reach back into my back pocket for this one.

I played the heck out of this album. 1st of all, "You Look Good To Me" took me back to Soul Train's dancers. All it took was to see them groove boogie on the dance floor to this & the single was sold. Lo & behold came "Saturday Love" with Alexander Oneal. Instantly, I got mesmorized & transformed from all fast dances, straight to getting into my car & picking up my homegirl for the midday serenade. Some serenade! That jam had to be one of the finest duets for R&B. "Will You Satisfy?" sequenced directly after "Saturday Love" with no problem. But overall, "Artificial Heart" cleared it out, literally!

There is a way that Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis brings the best out of a singer. It's not only for their ability to build & create melodies & harmonies on any given RPM, but they manifested true, real music. Music that will always be remembered. Not to mention, the style. Their approach. The dance steps. Their personnel (Randy Ran, Jerome Benton, Clarence Avant, Jellybean Johnson, Monte Moir, just to name a few.).

"High Priority" also reminded my of The S.O.S. Band's albums ('The Finest', 'Sands Of Time'). I would hope you all should have this album in your back pockets. If not, go get it!
